"House our home in some colour",
Said the girl to her mother.

So she covered every wall,
With pinkish brown and deep blue,
Plus a hint of mint too
In all of its hue.

It was the loveliest sight
The girl had yet seen.

Though her mind - so curious,
So full of surprise -
Could not help but ask
What was burning inside:

"Why does all this colour,
Delight my eyes, dear Mother?"

But the mother, being wise,
Had left her unanswered.
